I love this place! “These days, the Old West is mostly remembered for its saloons and gunslingers. And, true to that legend, Pioneer Living History Museum hosts a classic western jail, sheriff’s office, and gallows. But the more than 90-acre recreation of Arizona’s 1863–1912 territorial period also reminds visitors that the era included much more.
A peek inside the museum’s authentic opera house, for instance, reveals the stage where Lily Langtry and other actors performed popular melodramas of the day. Over behind the late 19th-century schoolhouse, students might even stumble upon theteacherage, a home the town gratefully built for its resident teacher.
The rest of Pioneer Living’s town is made up of reproductions, including a blacksmith shop and dress shop full of fashionable clothing from the 1890s, including corsets and bathing tuxedos. All the while, actors add to the realism, donning the garb of 19th-century characters such as cowboys and Victorian ladies.”
